Transfer paper pattern to sheet aluminum

I have a 24x18" pattern (almost entirely curved lines) drawn on thick (110lb) paper. What is a good way to transfer it to a sheet of aluminum, then a mirror image to another sheet of aluminum. I need to be able to follow some of the transferred pattern with a bandsaw and some with a bead roller.

    Bracelet

I’m trying my hand at bracelet making. Need to keep it turning slowly until the epoxy gells.

    Motor control on carriage

Last year I bought a "Gearhead" 13x40 lathe that is about 25 years old. It's very similar to an Enco 13 x 40 110-1351/510-2585 and Grizzly 4002. I really enjoy getting out to my shop and using it. On the headstock there are an inch/run switch, reverse, stop and forward buttons. The carriage...

Tool boring bars for HSS bits

My lathe came with a brazed carbide boring bar set, which I have used in a grooved quick change holder. I also have a larger index-able carbide boring bar with quick change holder. My current turning project is in acrylic, not steel or aluminum, so I think I will need to use HSS bits to get the...

    Plasma cut quality

I don't plasma cut frequently, but I have been recently, while modifying my workbench. I've narrowed the bench and was ready to cut down the 1/8" top, so I did a few test cuts to setup the machine. Air pressure is right in the middle green LED (Hypertherm T45). I tried currents from 25-35 and...

    Shop turntable for grinders etc.

I'm trying to make the best use of my one bay space. I've been thinking a lazy susan (e.g. https://www.woodsmithplans.com/plan/revolving-tool-station/) might be the way to mount my benchtop drill press, grinder, belt sander etc. The few I've found on the internet seem like they would vibrate too...

Tool Digital protractor or digital level?

Which do people find more useful around the metal work shop? Is there such a thing as a digital protractor that also functions as a level? I do welding, and use a lathe, drill press, brake and h/v bandsaw. I hope to have a small knee mill in the next year or two.

    Quick change insert height

My 13x40 used lathe came with a quick change tool holder. The lowest position I can get any of the carbide inserts is slightly high (maybe 0.020”), before the tool holders are against the top of my compound slide. Is it possible to machine that much off all of the tool holders (hopefully using...

    Chipping slag

My current project has more than my normal stick welding, so I’ve been doing more than my normal slag chipping and it’s pissing off my carpel tunnel. I’m using a traditional chipping hammer, with spring handle. I hold it lightly and the slag chips off easily but it’s still leaving me with a numb...

    Hi from East Vancouver

I've done metalworking, since being introduced in high school (Is it still taught?). I've had a drill press for decades, then added a box and pan brake, 4x6" horiz/vert bandsaw, English wheel, AC TIG and many hand tools, over the years. I retired almost a year ago and have recently purchased a...
