    Opposites

I'm mentioning this because I have found this trick incredibly handy over the years. When I was a kid my brother gifted me a book called a whack on the side of the head, it's a whimsical book about creativity. That was 50 years back and one suggestion about "opposites" in that book, I continue...

I'm just wondering how many of you have actually bolted your lathe to the floor, vs. Just levelled it?

    Separate Jacobs chuck from CAT40

Do you think it would be easy to separate this chuck from the CAT40 arbor? I don't have wedges, assuming the CAT40 is hollow all the way through perhaps a tap with a punch from the draw bar end? Assuming that end comes off? Or perhaps I would need wedges?

    Jacobs Super Chuck or clone?

My new lathe has a MT3 tailstock, my old one has a MT2. One option is to purchase new arbors and use my old chucks. Another option is to get a new or good used chuck. New Jacobs are pretty spendy, Ali type clones are less expensive but I'm not sure how they compare, anyone try one? If someone...

    This is a Precision Machine

Well big thanks to SkippyWell for his patience while I arranged LTL lift-gate shipping. Great packing job and it appears to have made the trip unscathed, good on minimax transport. IIRC it was Dabbler that stated the trick to moving something heavy is a custom dolly appropriate for the job, so...

    SM 10" Utilathe tweaks

I'm really getting ahead of myself, my lathe is to arrive tomorrow but I like to ponder and would like to hear thoughts on my pondering. Obviously I will run it as it is for a while to evaluate. I enjoy tweaking my machines to improve them. DRO and 3-P motor with VFD almost for sure. Now the...

    Tips/Techniques The Bouquet Thread

Growing up in Winnipeg 60-70s the local radio station CJOB had a call in program called Beefs and Bouquets. People would call in a briefly either describe an excellent service call experience or warn people about a terrible one. Too many "Beefs" nowadays so this thread is dedicated to a product...
