Bison bench vise pawn shop find

I wandered through a pawn shop last week and noticed a small bench vise. I am looking for a bigger one but went over to have a look at it. Surprisingly to me it was a Bison vise made in Poland. Model PJWT-80. I consider this to be one of my best ever finds in a pawn shop and it was only $30. I...

    Question about casting bronze

I recently looked up some prices for round bearing bronze and wow is it expensive. I occasionally have access to some bearing bronze that is left over from turnings. Would it be practical to melt it down and cast it into slugs? How difficult is it to avoid it being too porous to use? I have...

    A question for the farmers.

I know from previous threads on here that there are a few farmers on here so I think it's as good a place as any to ask a question. What is the proper name for this weed and is there any practical way to control it? It grows in damp areas in my fields. This year it is growing like crazy. We are...

Tool Looking for blind bearing puller ideas

So a job that comes up often is the need to remove 2 small flanged bushings. They are installed in a lug from opposite directions so there is not much room to work. There is only a small gap about .100" where the bushing ends meet. The standard method is to get in there with a pin punch usually...

    Hercus Lathes and Mills

I recently found out that I'm not the only person with Hercus machine tools on here so I thought it best to start a thread about it here. I have a Hercus lathe and a milling machine. The mill was my start in CNC. I got it running with Mach 3 and being new to CNC found it to be way to limited in...
