    Tool holders for AMMCO Shaper

My new AMMCO Shaper has a size 0 lantern tool post on it. I plan to investigate ways to install an improved toolpost with emphasis on the one that @140mower developed. But in the meantime, it seems prudent to get a few tool holders to fit the current lantern tool post. It came with 1 lonely Left...

    New to me 6"Jointer

I got so caught up in the excitement of my new Shaper that I forgot to brag about this gem that followed me home the same day. @CWret snagged it for me and brought it to our meetup preview. It's a 6" Taiwan Jointer. I don't do as much wood work as I used to, but one of my biggest limitations...

WTH - Got these inserts on Ali

I ordered some of these CVD inserts on Ali: https://a.aliexpress.com/_mqIOvgP They were just a great price on some WNMG inserts. At $2.80 each for 6 edges. They might last me forever! I received these: They appear to be genuine Sandvik Coromant/Corokey inserts! If so, this is probably the...

HERO TIME - My Dream Lathe has Landed!

Last night, I spotted a hell of a deal on a shop sale in Forest Ontario that included a big lathe and sent the seller a message. Turns out the guy was desperate. His girlfriend had kicked him out of his own place and was selling his stuff. The timing of my call was perfect! His girlfriend was...

    Indicator Base Plate for Lathe

Maybe a year ago or so @Dabbler and I were talking about various ways to mount an indicator on a lathe. I have used the normal gammut of methods from putting a mag base on the tool post, on the cross-slide, on the chuck itself, and on the gear box. The problem with the last three is that cast...

Vipers Venom Cutting Oil - Limited Supply ALL SOLD

As a favour to members, I obtained a 5 gal US jug of Viper's Venom Cutting Oil. I am making it available in smaller quantities to members. Vipers Venom is my favorite cutting oil for all ferrous metals by a very wide margin. It is particularly good on Stainless Steel and Chrome Moly. But it is...

How to clean up a crusty ruler

I found this old ME600 Starrett Tempered Ruler in with some kijiji finds. It's stained and discoloured but apparently not rusted. I'm not sure how best to clean it up. I wouldn't want to lose the black lettering. I'm thinking about buffing it. Any suggestions?

Tips/Techniques Making the Square Drive hole in a custom socket.

Apparently, the dual counter - rotating propellers on a Volvo Outboard Drive system requires a special socket. The tool costs a King's ransom. So one of my boys borrowed one and asked me if I can make one for him. For reference, the ID is 2.05", and its about 7 inches long. I don't know if the...

    Tool Magnetic Base

I ordered an LED Lamp for my Surface Grinder and was shocked to see the size of the mag base it came with. Here is the new base alongside the smaller standard NOGA base. One thing is certain! I won't be wasting that bad boy on a lamp!

    Product Rusty Neiko Spring Clips

Bought a Neiko Imperial Spring Clip collection just recently. They arrived all rusty. Not impressed at all. I complained to Neiko. Rather than look after me, they said to go after the seller. The seller was Neiko. Got a metric set of springs at the same time from Cimeton. Perfect in every way...
