  • Several Regions have held meetups already, but others are being planned or are evaluating the interest. The Calgary Area Meetup is set for Saturday July 12th at 10am. The signup thread is here! Arbutus has also explored interest in a Fraser Valley meetup but it seems members either missed his thread or had other plans. Let him know if you are interested in a meetup later in the year by posting here! Slowpoke is trying to pull together an Ottawa area meetup later this summer. No date has been selected yet, so let him know if you are interested here! We are not aware of any other meetups being planned this year. If you are interested in doing something in your area, let everyone know and make it happen! Meetups are a great way to make new machining friends and get hands on help in your area.     Line boring

    Just the centre bar. There is a sort of rule of thumb of how far the space is between the support bearings along the bar. Seems like everything I do I’m at or past the maximum, so I have to use other tricks to make things work. Just for scale though, that bar is 3.5” in diameter.

    I bought three from Martin Models a year or so ago. Not real computer savvy, but he packaged and shipped them in such a way to minimize shipping costs. Still waiting to find time to machine them though.

    Tool Solid Rivets

    Sledge hammer as a backer, and a ball peen hammer. Give a few taps, move to the next one. Grew up on a lake and we used to do that on leaky rental boats to tighten and seal them up.
