  • Several Regions have held meetups already, but others are being planned or are evaluating the interest. The Calgary Area Meetup is set for Saturday July 12th at 10am. The signup thread is here! Arbutus has also explored interest in a Fraser Valley meetup but it seems members either missed his thread or had other plans. Let him know if you are interested in a meetup later in the year by posting here! Slowpoke is trying to pull together an Ottawa area meetup later this summer. No date has been selected yet, so let him know if you are interested here! We are not aware of any other meetups being planned this year. If you are interested in doing something in your area, let everyone know and make it happen! Meetups are a great way to make new machining friends and get hands on help in your area.     So in a couple hours the other night I cut 40 pieces of 1x4 mild steel. That was probably close to 10x what I could have cut with my 4x6. What a difference! Blade costs will be better too from what I’m seeing looking around online.

    If your transformer machine is AC only, 7018 will be a struggle. 7014 is an easy to use, all position rod that works well on AC.

    I had some leftover insulated osb panels for under floating floors, used to use some as floor ‘mats’ in the last house. Worked great, feet stayed warmer, gave a little cushion too. These were the 2’x2’ panels with a half inch or so of styrofoam on the bottom. They ended up outside for a while...

    And it’s in place. 1600 pounds of saw. It’s amazing what some pry bars, ratchet straps, and taking some weight at one end with a cherry picker can do. I do see another section of built in work bench getting some modifications in the near future though.
