  • Several Regions have held meetups already, but others are being planned or are evaluating the interest. The Calgary Area Meetup is set for Saturday July 12th at 10am. The signup thread is here! Arbutus has also explored interest in a Fraser Valley meetup but it seems members either missed his thread or had other plans. Let him know if you are interested in a meetup later in the year by posting here! Slowpoke is trying to pull together an Ottawa area meetup later this summer. No date has been selected yet, so let him know if you are interested here! We are not aware of any other meetups being planned this year. If you are interested in doing something in your area, let everyone know and make it happen! Meetups are a great way to make new machining friends and get hands on help in your area. Don’t be shy, sign up and come, or plan your own meetup!

    The swarf shop

You asked for it .... I'm telling you .... Heres part of my Sherline setup, in it's slightly stored capacity (still waiting on those belts) It sits nicely beside (at the moment, due to the 'work in progress') some of my 'workshop' tools (I say workshop, as it is actually the other spare...

    The swarf shop

Well the last project of the day as I do some more research on how much it'll cost me to open up the DTI from the glass side .... (any recommendations on a new DTI?) In my youtube binging, I came across people using the ubiquitous "NOGA" holders ..... I have a bunch of "rod" holders, and that...

Need a Dro what one to get

Hmmmm ..... I was looking at several places for a DRO ... now I'm not too sure after reading the last few pages :P My sherline is too small for glass slides, so that kinda leaves the TouchDRO with Capacitive Scales option (or to upgrade to TouchDRO later ... I have the tablet already, just...

    The swarf shop

So while I wait for my belts to make it across the boarder, I thought I'd try my luck at repairing a DTI that I've had from day 1. It's your run of the mill .030" x .0005" DTI, and it works fantastic .... although the dial arm has been bent since day 1. It's bent about .0003" nothing too...

    The swarf shop

Well, I thought I'd log my progress in making impressive swarf piles here! Lucky you! I don't have much of equipment, a dull hacksaw, and a Sherline 4400 lathe for making circularish objects, and a milling column, so then I can change into making straightish objects that remain after I make my...

    Collet sets...(ER)

I currently have a sherline setup (3/4 thread and #1 MT in the spindle), and am looking at strategies on ER collets. The mill is pretty easy... 3/8” primarily would be used for endmills, but on the lathe, many sizes would be used. Now, thinking about making this slightly ‘futureproof’... would...

    Left hand thread cutting

I have a project on the ole to-do list possibly in the next week or two, that requires a Left hand thread to be cut. Its a dual screw? for tightening a clamp. Sadly the original was made with a coated steel screw, and well, I take it underwater, so a stainless screw is in order. I can do the...

Could be a tool for changing tips? Mine has a similar, but rectangular single ended keyed piece that came with it... Brad

    Amazon.ca Order - WOW

Looks great! Although I could probably cut them in half and they’d still be too long to use on my machine (2” sherline vice) not to mention too tall for most of the kit... I’m just wondering if I machine my own out of plastic or something (bolt down to a milking (gah, darn auto-wrong! ...
