  • Several Regions have held meetups already, but others are being planned or are evaluating the interest. The Calgary Area Meetup is set for Saturday July 12th at 10am. The signup thread is here! Arbutus has also explored interest in a Fraser Valley meetup but it seems members either missed his thread or had other plans. Let him know if you are interested in a meetup later in the year by posting here! Slowpoke is trying to pull together an Ottawa area meetup later this summer. No date has been selected yet, so let him know if you are interested here! We are not aware of any other meetups being planned this year. If you are interested in doing something in your area, let everyone know and make it happen! Meetups are a great way to make new machining friends and get hands on help in your area. Don’t be shy, sign up and come, or plan your own meetup!

DRO for dummies (aka .... me)

Next dumb question .. 5micron ~= .0002 inch? So if I was looking for a +/- 0.0005 readout, 5micron is enough and not need to get a 1micron scale/reader? Brad

The other thing, is the lathe bed is also my mill bed .. so while it may be overkill to dro the lathe, it makes up on the mill side of the setup Brad

Yeah the sherline system is based on the handwheels, and you tell it what the backlash is... not a fan, but it is ‘clean’ on the machine though... compared to making a direct reading one... I’ll check out those links. Thanks! Brad
