  • Several Regions have held meetups already, but others are being planned or are evaluating the interest. The Calgary Area Meetup is set for Saturday July 12th at 10am. The signup thread is here! Arbutus has also explored interest in a Fraser Valley meetup but it seems members either missed his thread or had other plans. Let him know if you are interested in a meetup later in the year by posting here! Slowpoke is trying to pull together an Ottawa area meetup later this summer. Machine Considering Buying a King 1236ML Looking for Opinions

Sweet lathe! Grew up in westend of Summerside myself. Love the floor jack lift, might have to steal that idea as I have the 20t that I removed off my shop press....

    Peavey Mart Closing

Be careful air Liquide doesn't exchange you a bottle that says air Liquide on it, then the next time you come in they tell you that you need a contact or they are taking their bottle back. Seems crazy they would be willing to do it otherwise, with all the people they have paying for contracts.....

    0.035 Outershield/dualshield worth it?

Curious what you're welding that you want to run dual shield? If you want a cheaper option to c25 as shielding gas, grab a 20lb Co2 bottle and run solid wire 2x as much gas as an 80cuft cylinder of c25, way cheaper & easier to get refilled. My Miller 250 loves it. If you Tig weld, and...

Tips/Techniques Rust removal on the cheap, but better than evaporust

I would just mix enough to do the job you're doing. It's such a small amount you need to mix I don't keep it around unless I'm planning on doing a lot of parts back to back. For instance I may use a cup of citric acid powder for a 5gallon bucket. And that's lots. For a litre a couple...

    Gas welding kit advice?

Stay away from a small oxygen tank as it won't last long and you'll spend the difference in purchase price filling it all the time. Propane is a good option (especially if you have a propane BBQ) cuz you can swap them just about anywhere, just about anytime. If you're not in a hurry you can...

    Welding challenge

I find in addition to acetone, 3m scotch-brite pads work amazing for cleaning aluminum. Makes a big difference when you use them to clean your filler rods as well, right before you weld.

    Inexpensive Tig welders

The other big thing that made a huge difference for me was when I relaxed my grip when holding the torch. If you're death gripping it's going to be hard. If it's balanced in your hand and the hoses aren't dragging it down then it's a light touch. You may want to work a foot inwards of the edge...
