  • Several Regions have held meetups already, but others are being planned or are evaluating the interest. The Calgary Area Meetup is set for Saturday July 12th at 10am. The signup thread is here! Arbutus has also explored interest in a Fraser Valley meetup but it seems members either missed his thread or had other plans. Let him know if you are interested in a meetup later in the year by posting here! Slowpoke is trying to pull together an Ottawa area meetup later this summer. No date has been selected yet, so let him know if you are interested here! We are not aware of any other meetups being planned this year. If you are interested in doing something in your area, let everyone know and make it happen! Meetups are a great way to make new machining friends and get hands on help in your area. Don’t be shy, sign up and come, or plan your own meetup!

New to me ZX45 milling machine

I pretty much only buy from metal supermarkets, Calgary metal market, or preferably Kijiji. Usually I buy a small amount at a time and if I'm not picky on materials I'll just go and shop the drops. I hear a lot of the other places don't like to deal with smaller customers, but I'd be...

New to me ZX45 milling machine

Both places I go to in Calgary do, and are happy to sell you them so they don't pile up One place even has sales on the drops every now and then.(Probably when they pile up) Metal supermarkets is crazy expensive & I would try to avoid ever placing a large order there. But they will happily...

New to me ZX45 milling machine

Go in person to metal supermarket (or any other supplier)and shop from their drops. Bring a tape measure. It will be a LOT cheaper, you may have to be patient and go a couple times or compromise on size and machine it down, but for flat bar they will likely have something

    Spindle Bearing oil

    Tool South Bend 9A screws?

Do you have pictures? Don't forget if you do it properly and swap parts you have the old parts to resell(probably pretty easily since it's a southbend) on eBay, perhaps for the sameish money(or maybe more) then you pay for the replacement parts.

    RF30 Mill/Drill Surprises

That actually happened to me with the ct129 I sold. I just laughed at the Kijiji generals and sold it for every dollar I asked in a few weeks.

Moving lathe pull it completely apart?

Use a heavy duty 2 wheel dolly & strap the lathe bed to it with some ratchet straps and moving blankets/cardboard. After removing the tailstock/carriage/leadscrew/(headstock IF needed.) 2 people could easily do it, afternoon job. Should be able to use it for the cabinet too if you get the ones...

    Jswain's active projects

Found a mostly straight pipe that fits perfect for a jack handle. 3d printed a handle for it to slow me down from using it elsewhere
