  • Several Regions have held meetups already, but others are being planned or are evaluating the interest. The Calgary Area Meetup is set for Saturday July 12th at 10am. The signup thread is here! Arbutus has also explored interest in a Fraser Valley meetup but it seems members either missed his thread or had other plans. Let him know if you are interested in a meetup later in the year by posting here! Slowpoke is trying to pull together an Ottawa area meetup later this summer. No date has been selected yet, so let him know if you are interested here! We are not aware of any other meetups being planned this year. If you are interested in doing something in your area, let everyone know and make it happen! Meetups are a great way to make new machining friends and get hands on help in your area.     A very thorough description. I wish this were a template for all machine listings. Usually you get the impression that the seller doesn't have a clue about the machine they are listing. If the new mill looks like the photo, then that is a sweet looking machine- is it Taiwanese?

    Way oil ISO vs SAE

    I would say you are right on...an ISO 68 would be equivalent to KBC 20 wt. But a quick email to PM would confirm that. If it were me, I would use the recommended type of oil in my brand new lathe, for two reasons, peace of mind and potential warranty claims down the road. You never want to...

    New chop saw needed

    Abrasive or cold cut saw? For abrasive, I have used Makita's and they seemed bullet proof. Brand to avoid - I have a Maximum from Canadian Tire, and it needed modification right out of the box. Even at that its performance is marginal. No experience with the saw blade style.

    Congrats- A nice step up from where you are now and you will be happy with it. I believe they quote $299 to ship to the border. How much more did they quote to have it shipped to your door?
