Rebuilding a 10" Standard Modern Utilathe

Now that its up and running, why not single point thread cut it? Its a through bore so dead easy without worry of crashing into the chuck, just need to grind a HSS cutter for it. That way you also get to tweak the fit versus a tap cutting it to whatever size and tolerance it is made to (that...

The only thing with having the sensors inline with the travel is if you're machine ignores the stop or you over ride it for any reason and you fat finger the direction you're going, you break the sensor or its mount. Now the nice thing here is the mounts are 3D printed so its just a nuisance...

    Hello and welding question

Welcome. My 2 cents as a hobby guy and no professional experience. You want to weld steel, stainless and aluminum. That to me screams TIG. It does require practice, but will do all of those metals.

    Weiss VM32 CNC Conversion

They could, but as suppliers of equipment designed for this application I'd trust them to have installed them that way on purpose. No point messing with a quality part, and perhaps they are getting bearings that are matched for face to face preload only. The SKF document I linked mentioned...

Side note, I actually, just noticed that the BK and FK are face to face mounting for the bearings from Hiwin.
