  • Several Regions have held meetups already, but others are being planned or are evaluating the interest. The Calgary Area Meetup is set for Saturday July 12th at 10am. The signup thread is here! Arbutus has also explored interest in a Fraser Valley meetup but it seems members either missed his thread or had other plans. Let him know if you are interested in a meetup later in the year by posting here! Slowpoke is trying to pull together an Ottawa area meetup later this summer. No date has been selected yet, so let him know if you are interested here! We are not aware of any other meetups being planned this year. If you are interested in doing something in your area, let everyone know and make it happen! Meetups are a great way to make new machining friends and get hands on help in your area. Don’t be shy, sign up and come, or plan your own meetup!

You still on the fence to get a 3d printer?

I use Fusion but...I've seen people hacking stuff out fast in tinker cad. I just gave it a try and it's pretty good! I'm disappointed Autodesk has their mitts all over it but it looks a lot easier than the CAD route. You'll want CAD I'm sure later but it seems to be pretty capable and productive...

You still on the fence to get a 3d printer?

I think I need to to go buy a knee mill 3dp. @YYCHM Craig if you want to see my low end A1 mini... @Arbutus your P1S - are you printing tricky materials? Nylon, ASA, PC, PC-CF? Bambu hints the X1C is more appropriate for this but the specs are so similar - I'm wondering if a P1S would be fine...

Are you still on the fence to get a printer? If you like machining I'm sure you'll like a 3d printer too. Which one - how much - omg too many options. ??? Well just stop and buy this bambu one, Bambu A1 mini, to get started. $249 CAD. Cheap enough to put your toe in and they work surprisingly...

    3d printed thrust bearing

I've only done this once or twice with models from other people. I'd like to know about any plain printable roller bearing models which are good, integral assembly or not.

    3d printed thrust bearing

I printed this thrust bearing, a 2326, 50 mm OD, entirely out of plastic. Plastic races, plastic roller bearings, and a snap fit top race. See youtube below, and it's on thingiverse. I also printed it at 50% size or 25mm OD. It's interesting and will work for light load lazy susan type...
