  • Several Regions have held meetups already, but others are being planned or are evaluating the interest. The Calgary Area Meetup is set for Saturday July 12th at 10am. The signup thread is here! Arbutus has also explored interest in a Fraser Valley meetup but it seems members either missed his thread or had other plans. Let him know if you are interested in a meetup later in the year by posting here! Slowpoke is trying to pull together an Ottawa area meetup later this summer. No date has been selected yet, so let him know if you are interested here! We are not aware of any other meetups being planned this year. My welding challenge

Any details on the kit? Is this a prefab kit or did you send the chamber dimensions and they send out the cut and rolled parts?

    How to load a lathe

The previous owner claimed it was intermittently not starting, and didn’t start when I went to pick it up. The switch is off-on-momentary, when you hold it in momentary the motor turns-stops-turns-stops etc. when you release the switch into the run position it stops. Almost like some sort of...

    How to load a lathe

So an update. I liked the idea of the drop deck trailer to simplify loading/unloading but unfortunately Sunbelt in Ontario apparently only had one in Nepean which is too far away. Eventually I was able to find one through United rentals. The locations near me were all booked on long term rentals...

Other Basic Electronics, Multimeters, & Oscilloscopes

Just a heads up if you are planning to buy one that Microchip is bad at supporting their older products. Lots of newer ICs won’t be supported by the Pickit and you will need the 4 or now 5 version. I do have a Pickit 3 and would help but unfortunately I am not local to you. If you do not find...

    Personal Protection Hearing and Eyes

I shoot competitively which requires full days wearing hearing protection. I have tried about everything and use different things depending on the situation. If you are going with muffs the key is to get gel cups. Some higher end ones come with them, others like the 3Ms you need to buy them...

    How to load a lathe

I do like the idea of the lift-deck. I am a big fan of never needing to lift the lathe and not needing to go up ramps. I called sunbelt rentals and they said they only have one in all of Ontario and it is located in Nepean. That can’t be true? If anyone here has rented within Ontario can you...

    How to load a lathe

I have tried calling a couple of riggers, “The Brothers hoisting and rigging” who said they were too busy, and I have requested a quote from Hendrie machinery movers but have not heard back from them. Does anyone have any experience with a rigger in the area that they would recommend? If I...

    How to load a lathe

Thanks everyone for suggestions so far. Yes from my research depending on configuration they were between 3000-4000lbs so the estimate of the current owner seems accurate. Seeing as the owner indicated I can access it with a forklift I will see if I can rent one that is low enough to fit...

    How to load a lathe

I have not seen the shop situation but from what I understand I will need to move it from its current location out of the shop which has a 7’ door height. Then somehow pick it up and place onto the trailer. The shop looks to have concrete floors. The Ad is here so you can see photos. I only...
