  • Several Regions have held meetups already, but others are being planned or are evaluating the interest. The Calgary Area Meetup is set for Saturday July 12th at 10am. The signup thread is here! Arbutus has also explored interest in a Fraser Valley meetup but it seems members either missed his thread or had other plans. Let him know if you are interested in a meetup later in the year by posting here! Slowpoke is trying to pull together an Ottawa area meetup later this summer. No date has been selected yet, so let him know if you are interested here! We are not aware of any other meetups being planned this year. If you are interested in doing something in your area, let everyone know and make it happen! Meetups are a great way to make new machining friends and get hands on help in your area.     A test hole is likely the best way. Then you could also measure the depth you need at the same time.

    It just occurred to me that in a person's spare time it might be nice to make a gauge that would accommodate a bunch of different sizes of screws and bolts to check csk angles. Sort of like a cross section of a funnel. hmmm.....brain is working...dangerous, I know.

    My question is mostly about measuring the screw csk angle so I can drill the right hole angle. a 3/8 csk bolt is easy but a #8 screw is the pits. Modelling clay might help. Never thought of that.

This was a WWII vehicle with BSF fasteners and getting the right countersink angles was frustrating. Since then I have had the same experience with all kinds of csk screws. What methods do you...

    Stand Design for benchtop Mill- looking for feedback

    only thing I would change is move the front edge of the stand back away from you so it doesn't protrude any farther forward than the front edge of the mill. Freedom to move and get close to the mill is a huge advantage at times.

    Hard to imagine what advantages ( advantage? ) they saw in spinning the whole engine as opposed to just the crank. Maybe some engineer type saw it as a challenge. Maybe it would cool better?
