  • Several Regions have held meetups already, but others are being planned or are evaluating the interest. The Calgary Area Meetup is set for Saturday July 12th at 10am. The signup thread is here! Arbutus has also explored interest in a Fraser Valley meetup but it seems members either missed his thread or had other plans. Let him know if you are interested in a meetup later in the year by posting here! Slowpoke is trying to pull together an Ottawa area meetup later this summer. No date has been selected yet, so let him know if you are interested here! We are not aware of any other meetups being planned this year.     @Susquatch I think you are talking about helix angle, apparently lead has to do with the end cutting profile of the cutter. Very interesting stuff but seems highly specialized for only specific operations. Check the page I referenced above.

    @Ironman ,thanks for the link. Now I'm trying to wrap my little mind around axial advance. Is this how far we advance the side of the cutter into the work per revolution? As you can tell, I am completely out to lunch here.

    I have some endmills I got at auction and some of them have a term called " Lead" that I am not familiar with. For example " Lead 1.537 " or something similar. I did a search and found nothing so am wondering if anyone here can fill me in?

    my othermotor is 3/4 hp 110/230v , 3450 rpm, A10/5 , SFA 12/6 , SF 1.25 . Marginal, I would say.

    I went to the KMG site and all their kits use 1 hp or more so the 1/2 hp is out. I have a 220v motor that was on a pump out in the garage, I'll check the hp on that one.

    The tag on the DC motor doesn't give much info, no rpm rating, wattage, nothing. just HP and voltage. I don't even know what max rpm would be, maybe 3000 or more? I believe max volts is around 100-110. This is what makes it so hard to figure out drive wheel size. I am guessing that I will get...
