    Little one day projects

Thanks! Luckily in this case, the knurling is a seperate job on its own piece, so if I messed it up, it wouldn't have been such a big deal. Although thankfully it went ok first try. I'm starting to get a feel for how much pressure is required on my adjustable knurling tool.

    Little one day projects

I have a small workshop that I try to fit a lot of machines into. Which means I often end up bumping into various machine handles as I try to maneuver around the shop. I've actually started taking the handles off my cross-slide while the lathe is not in use owing to a few too many bruises...

A New Way To Break Things

As long as the set of holes you're using is on the same axis as the handles, it should be fine, no? Just move one hand further out on the handle, depending on which hole you've put the tap in. Either that, or it's for tapping those double drilled holes posted in another thread...

Radon gas mitigation in our home.

This is great and gives me lots of ideas, thank you. Our home is in an area which is notoriously bad geographically for radon gas. I did do a mail-in test a few years ago from opposite ends of our basement, and one room was below the 200 threshold, and one was slightly above, so I chose not to...

    Tips of the Trade

That's a great solution! I have the same issue, and my lathe is currently under a mattress bag, and my mill and welders are under sheets from the Sally Anne.

    Dro for pdm30

Huh, interesting. It worked fine for me, but like I said - not a long term test. I suppose the sort of work being done and the quality of the machine would play into the amount of vibration as well. Although if I were to do it again today with pricing being what it is, I'd probably go with a...

    Dro for pdm30

I had put an inexpensive iGaging 2-axis DRO on my RF30 when I still had it, but I only put it on just before I sold the thing, so I didn't get the chance to use it that much...

What's your pick for lathe size if you could only own one?

I think a Standard Modern 13x34 is a pretty good size. If I could be sure I wouldn't be moving much, a 16x40 Mori Seiki would be sweet though...
