  • Several Regions have held meetups already, but others are being planned or are evaluating the interest. The Calgary Area Meetup is set for Saturday July 12th at 10am. The signup thread is here! Arbutus has also explored interest in a Fraser Valley meetup but it seems members either missed his thread or had other plans. Let him know if you are interested in a meetup later in the year by posting here! Slowpoke is trying to pull together an Ottawa area meetup later this summer. Form Function Cost and Style! In years gone by form and style sold, provided it functioned (though sometime functioning suffered a little because they didn't fully understand what it did stress wise. Also why old machines are heavier. Now most times it comes down to function and cost, style...

    Half-Nut Engagement

The reason some thread pitches let you use all locations, some locations or just one is simple. As mentioned by @RobinHood syncing the rotation and feed to engage at the same location every time. This is why some don't even disengage the threading level until the thread is completed...

    G3616 Conversion.

Well the first ballscrew has been installed and it needs more support. I'm surprised at how much I can flex a short piece of 1/2" thick 6061 with a ballscrew. Currently this is causing the most inaccuracy.

    Tig settings

I'm going to recommend The Fabricator Series (TFS) and the Weld Monger as IMHO give the best advice as to technique and application. TFS is very specific and does show his errors (btw he's is the one the influenced my choice of the Primeweld TIG225X prior to him being a dealer).

Gas flow it TIG is set by cup size (back flow is different setting that I haven't had to deal with yet), generally its cup size x 2 plus a touch so #8 cup is 8x2+ a bit is 16-18. Less not enough coverage to much turbulent coverage which has a similar effect of not enough coverage (so the...

    Tig settings

I have done a little bit of sheet metal, sometime good sometimes bad, biggest thing I find is heat control and IMHO the filler wire acts as the coolant to keep the seam from over heating. Sometime I find just laying a wire in and flowing the wire to the sheet is the way to go.
