Scammers have burned people on this forum. Urgency, secrecy, excuses, selling for friend, newish members, FUD, are RED FLAGS. A video conference call is not adequate assurance. • Several Regions have held meetups already, but others are being planned or are evaluating the interest. The Calgary Area Meetup is set for Saturday July 12th at 10am. The signup thread is here! Arbutus has also explored interest in a Fraser Valley meetup but it seems members either missed his thread or had other plans. Let him know if you are interested in a meetup later in the year by posting here! Slowpoke is trying to pull together an Ottawa area meetup later this summer. No date has been selected yet, so let him know if you are interested here! We are not aware of any other meetups being planned this year. If you are interested in doing something in your area, let everyone know and make it happen! Meetups are a great way to make new machining friends and get hands on help in your area. Don’t be shy, sign up and come, or plan your own meetup!

    Something off with Vevor

100%. When dealing with B2C companies, be the person they expect you be, brain dead! UPS/not UPS is a red herring, don't go there (and except for Canada Post, I don't think anyone ever succeeds with a carrier)..... it will mess up discussions with Vevor. Your motor is DOA. You want a return...

    Something off with Vevor

I missed that UPS did it. Still it's their carrier, if UPS is going to cough up anything (good luck) it should be them who has to chase them

    Something off with Vevor

I usually buy Vevor through Amazon for this reason. A few extra bucks, but no BS. They must have 1000's of vendors at all points on the spectrum so its hit and miss. Not sure who is worse to deal with, Vevor or Visa (with their multi hour phone holds) but I bet Vevor will take the return...

    Strange but wonderful tool

Neat innovative tool. Wondering, any leftover microtome parts kicking about? I've a complete one except for a blade.

My YouTube Channel is Back UP!!

Yippy. Even more boring videos to come!! Terminated last last June, it has now been restored. Repetitive inquiries yielded "our decision is final" "there is nothing we can do", "the decision was carefully and thoughtfully made", somehow through the fog I reached someone. And they...

When the machining doesn't go according to plan...

I find it easier to be a good machinist when I'm following a drawing - mine or someone else's. The chance for recovery is much less, as it's either to the drawing or not, but so is the chance for error when the brain is no also trying to design. I do some designing on the fly, but usually...

Machine New Headstock Bearings - Dealing with Precision Taper Mount Bearing Installation

Interesting..... I'd been thinking their bot erred on my content but you are suggesting it was spam posting to other accounts. I hadn't considered that. I've made next to no posts with that account. :( Dailymotion is French, part of Vevendi.

    CA-ON Decent Drill Bits?

If you're buying drill bits, that's the problem - just buy the whole damn drill! :D :D In the past I've always said Precision Twist Drill, figuring they are a medium quality/price option...... today I went and looked at the current prices! WOW. They are decent enough but I recall getting a...

Machine New Headstock Bearings - Dealing with Precision Taper Mount Bearing Installation

... or why I love the old quality stuff. Less than a micron run out achieved. Still have not got my youtube back. There is zero reason from them cancelling me, and all I've got from them "it looks like you’ve already appealed & received an email outlining the final decision. We know it wasn’t...

Other Canadiana - Last Minute (St. Catharines) test indicator

i've got one of those, but didn't know the history - thanks. As for Canadian manufacturers, don't forget about Bertram in Hamilton. There were a precision tool manufacturer who made all manner of things for including cutting tools for Pratt and Whitney (The machine and cutting tool company...
