Does anyone know of any welding teachers in Burlington or Halton area?

We have discussed this before. Its really sad that evening courses at our technical colleges (at least SAIT in Calgary) has gotten so expensive. Unfortunately they seem to be dropping trade related courses at an alarming rate. Not sure what the issue is, but it certainly is not benefitting the...

Gray machine paint - recommendations please

I noticed that too. But oil based is still being sold so I'm not clear if they are slowly phasing oil out or just offering a different formulation. My instinct is that water based would not be as tough in hydrocarbon conditions but I have not tried it. Those of you who have used both POR-15 &...

How do I remove the chuck backplate on Craftex CX708

There are a few other considerations. The weight of the chuck, not just spinning, but load on the spindle bearings. Not all chucks of a specific size weigh the same. And the new adapter plate will add to that. It may be perfectly fine but bigger may also not be better depending on the lathe...

    Milky Gear Oil

I'm not really sure how they seal but are intended for holding internal pressure. Kind of the same but potentially different than vacuum, but probably not at these low-ish pressures. Google says about 1.25 atm pressure which is more than a vacuum pump from an absolute standpoint. Now vessels &...

    Milky Gear Oil

Not sure what rice cookers go for & then the vacuum plumbing hardware/work on top - but 'degassing' pots are very common. I use this to de-gas resins. Nice thing is it has a clear plexiglass lid to see what's going on. And you have the valve right there in case you want to control vacuum ramp or...

How do I remove the chuck backplate on Craftex CX708

I'm not familiar with the lathe but looked up the manual here https://cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0631/9643/0502/files/CX708.pdf Just to clarify, when you say 'original backplate' you mean the highlighted plate on part 49, the spindle, which appears to be fully integrated into the spindle shaft...
