    Belt Sander Electrocution

I don't know if metallic dust in & around the motor windings can manifest into static or shocks, but might be a good idea to have a peek in there too. Vacuum out or blow it clean. The good thing is, looks like your fan is on the opposite side but check cooling direction & any intake openings. I...

    King 1440 Lathe Speed plate

@lucsimoneau I have a '98 King 14x40, slightly different model. Your (left) index chart shown in post #7 looks suspiciously like the far right one from my manual, which pertains to the (metric) 3mm threading screw. 40>127+120>40 gear arrangement. I know you were clarifying the feeds with the...

    CA-AB Surtax metal

This is not a political thread, its a financial thread. I assume this is the current situation for metal orders originating from USA? So if the prior duty rate was 0% for aluminum or steel, we still have to factor (25% * Value) as an added surtax fee when it clears?

Tool Does Anyone Still Use a Wiggler?

Mine is quite rudimentary. Its a steel rod stick maybe, 0.125" diameter x 12" long. Like piano wire or drill rod. I hold one end in the tailstock chuck & the business end in the (typically 60-deg center drill hole). It just bends slightly conforming to the off-axis runout. I eyeball adjust it...

WTH - Got these inserts on Ali

I'm not sure if this is a Dotstripe thing or an Aliexpress thing, but I will stumble on a listing for amazing price like sale price $1.50 at 80% off. As soon as I log in, the exact same item jumps to $5.75 with a shipping charge. What's up with that? Maybe $1.50 applies if I pick it up at the...

    Cad Forum no more

I noticed my link has not been working past couple days. I think the host or redirect site is 'dezignstuf' ?sp? whereupon it goes to broken link site-no-more land. I saw a recent post on Reddit that the site owner pulled the plug so if true would explain it. If so, too bad. It was quite useful...

    12 x 36 lathe vibration

My motor adjuster assembly. The bolt threads into the upper motor plate, probably deadheading on the motor case :/ The pair of nuts on either side of plate collectively jack the motor up or down. And importantly lock together on either side of plate to fix it into position from any...

    Reamer Dreamer

That's a good suggestion. OP said 0.090" which is ~2.3mm. The steps on than particular drill are 5mm so should work. Not a reamed hole but for sure a more controlled way of progressivve drilling in thin stock.
