  • Several Regions have held meetups already, but others are being planned or are evaluating the interest. The Calgary Area Meetup is set for Saturday July 12th at 10am. The signup thread is here! Arbutus has also explored interest in a Fraser Valley meetup but it seems members either missed his thread or had other plans. Let him know if you are interested in a meetup later in the year by posting here! Slowpoke is trying to pull together an Ottawa area meetup later this summer. 2 stroke powered compressor

Back in the day WAJAX sold small 2 stroke powered Water pumps for wild fire fighting. They put out some serious water pressure from a 1.5 inch hose. If it works there should also work for a compressor?

    Rockwell Wood/Metal Bandsaw

As I noted in my post some of the bearings are hard to find. There is one on the main shaft that is grooved and has a snap ring. They are still being manufactured but no one seems to stock them. I had to buy a minimum of 4 to get the one I needed. In the Rockwell manual diagrams it is #158. Part...

    Rockwell Wood/Metal Bandsaw

I got this 14inch Wood/Metal Bandsaw from my friends estate. It was probably built in the early 1970's and had been the subject of hard use and quick repairs. It has been out of production for some time and parts are hard to source. Motor bearings were noisy. Transmission bearings were shot as...

    Sand Blast Cabinet For Sale

I have a vintage Sand Blast Cabinet that I acquired a while back. I tested it out and it works fine but I have never used it. It's a little much for my little compressor. Time to make space for something else. Includes foot valve and two pairs of new gloves. I'd like $200 for it. Located in...

Ahhhhh! Not just now. Maybe when I get really old and move to smaller quarters! Haha!

    Milling machine working height?

I had never thought about it before, but the advantage to a mill with a fixed table as opposed to a knee. You can put the table at a height that's comfortable and it's always at that height.

    Milling machine working height?

I have some bad disks in my back and any kind of stooping is painful. I raised both my mill and my lathe. The lathe about 3 inches and the mill about 6. With the knee raised almost to the top it places the vice at my shoulder level. I don't find it too high. My only regret is that I didn't do it...

Machine Left the Shop Door Open

Mine came from Accusize. The basics look pretty good but quality control sucks. Paint on machined surfaces, swarf in the work head, ugly burs. The work head would hardly move in any direction. I disassembled cleaned, removed paint and stoned all the edges. Machined a new sleeve for grinding...
