  • Several Regions have held meetups already, but others are being planned or are evaluating the interest. The Calgary Area Meetup is set for Saturday July 12th at 10am. The signup thread is here! Arbutus has also explored interest in a Fraser Valley meetup but it seems members either missed his thread or had other plans. Let him know if you are interested in a meetup later in the year by posting here! Slowpoke is trying to pull together an Ottawa area meetup later this summer. No date has been selected yet, so let him know if you are interested here! We are not aware of any other meetups being planned this year. If you are interested in doing something in your area, let everyone know and make it happen! Meetups are a great way to make new machining friends and get hands on help in your area.     Drill Hog drills are decent but not inexpensive with shipping and all. Locally sourced options are probably better value.

    The other consideration is tool height. An AXA holder is typically designed for 12mm or 1/2" tooling max whereas a BXA I think is 1.125" max so check if you can get your tooling on centre without crazy amounts of shims.

    I'm honestly shocked as a BXA post is .5" larger than an AXA. I had no idea the dovetails were so similar in size.

    I thought the 201 series were for a BXA toolpost which is a fair bit larger than a 100 series AXA. I can't imagine that that copper strip is enough to deal with the difference in size.

    I bought a set of taps and drills from KBC back when I was a beginner hobby machinist (could have been yesterday at my maturity level) and they have been excellent. Very sharp out of the box and hold an edge well. Drill Hog have also been very good. I suspect my next set will be whatever top...

    Tilley Tuff Utility pants

    I wore them yesterday while putting the Dake press on the wall. I'm impressed. Definitely heavier than jeans but not bulky enough to restrict movement.
