  • Several Regions have held meetups already, but others are being planned or are evaluating the interest. The Calgary Area Meetup is set for Saturday July 12th at 10am. The signup thread is here! Arbutus has also explored interest in a Fraser Valley meetup but it seems members either missed his thread or had other plans. Let him know if you are interested in a meetup later in the year by posting here! Slowpoke is trying to pull together an Ottawa area meetup later this summer. No date has been selected yet, so let him know if you are interested here! We are not aware of any other meetups being planned this year. If you are interested in doing something in your area, let everyone know and make it happen! Meetups are a great way to make new machining friends and get hands on help in your area.     I had the same thing but it still opened 3DE when I clicked on it. Didn't know about the offline mode but it wouldn't have made a difference to my decision to ditch it. It was the overall experience, especially the CAM side that drove me away.

    Yes, on both sides. Screen and keyboard are on top of the mobile tool chest to the side. It seems pretty capable, the first project got within a couple of thou to designed dimensions so that's alright in my books.

    The overall footprint of our mills is likely similar. The difference is that mine weighs less and because it's a bench mill I have it on a stand with a cabinet and four drawers.

    I tried a whole bunch of CAM applications. I thought I had a winner in EZCAM as they launched an integration with Alibre. I found that application to be a hot mess as well. What I really wanted was Visualcadcam integrated into Alibre

    Yes, 3DE is a complete shi!tshow. The CAM is called NC Shop Floor Programmer. It looks super slick and all but in reality it was the least intuitive software I've ever used. Of any kind.

    The biggest issue I had was the interface. Even though it was a local install, you have to start the app from the 3D Experience web interface. There is no other way to access the software. So the bloated, UX-disaster web interface is running while SW is running.
