  • Several Regions have held meetups already, but others are being planned or are evaluating the interest. The Calgary Area Meetup is set for Saturday July 12th at 10am. The signup thread is here! Arbutus has also explored interest in a Fraser Valley meetup but it seems members either missed his thread or had other plans. Let him know if you are interested in a meetup later in the year by posting here! Slowpoke is trying to pull together an Ottawa area meetup later this summer. No date has been selected yet, so let him know if you are interested here! We are not aware of any other meetups being planned this year. If you are interested in doing something in your area, let everyone know and make it happen! Meetups are a great way to make new machining friends and get hands on help in your area. Don’t be shy, sign up and come, or plan your own meetup!

    I have done similar stain removal using adhesive backed rolls of sand paper I have left over from my body and paint days. Good quality paper has very uniform adhesive, so peel it in stick right onto a granite surface plate, grits go from 36 to 3000. Lots of flat surfaces can be dressed this way...

    Turn the switch on, insert the screwdriver, hold onto it for dear life because all it wants to do is head over the side, then pull it out slowly. The metal filings stick to side walls and when you turn the switch off you can empty them out.

    When you last mentioned this simple demagnetizer I went over to the junk pile and grabbed a worn out 1/4hp motor, pulled it apart, wired it up to a momentary push switch and started demagnetizing all my screwdrivers and drills. It works great, thanks.
