    2x72 grinder discussion

I bought the sample kit from Ameribrade, https://www.ameribrade.com/parts-belts/belts all good quality belts except the 220 grit belts, thin and wore out quickly. I started with a 1725rpm motor, 230v but have changed over to a 3400rpm, 230v, for my uses I prefer the faster speed. You'll need at...

    2x72 grinder discussion

Yes, no where near as precise as a Surface grinder but as you can see from the last test piece pic, it can get you in the ball park of being ready for polishing. Polishing may be possible with a 2x72 belt of some kind but I'm starting to explore those possibilities. Knife makers can do some...

    2x72 grinder discussion

Finally finished the whole project, Jer's Gen 2 2x72 belt grinder. I pulled the 1725rpm motor off and replaced it with a 3400 rpm motor the other day and got the high heat epoxy spread over the magnetic chuck. It is a pretty great design, I found one omission in all 5 of the plans so not bad at...

    Weekly community thrift haul thread

    Solitary Bee House

Just remember, before people decided to "help", the bees were doing just fine for millions of years.

    Solitary Bee House

Love the bamboo idea. Technically, you don't have to clean them out, the bees them selves will do all the cleaning and boring if they think the hole is the right size but it does make things a bit easier for the bee. Sometimes you will see a solitary wasp dragging a caterpillar into the hole, it...

    Solitary Bee House

If you are going to clean it out, don't do it at the end of the season as eggs and larvae may already be occupying the nests waiting for the following spring to emerge. By mid summer all the bees should have dug their way out and if they haven't then the offspring weren't viable and need to be...

    Buying from McMaster Carr

The teflon tape I used for my table saw I got from Lee Valley, don't know if they still sell it but worth a look.
