Connecting VFD + 3 phase motor on King PDM-30

@BaitMaster , @Susquatch , I've read many times that power should always be going to the VFD because they don't like being powered down and when switching them on/off you risk damaging the VFD. I've had a new VFD on my drill press for the past 3 months working perfectly, then I shut the power...

Machine Not sure I need a drill press anymore

It is a big old 18" Canadian Buffalo DP with wasted space on either side of it, I love using it, like the rock of Gibraltar. No I'm not thinking about buy the pos we talked about, I've been looking at this one, https://www.kijiji.ca/v-view-details.html?adId=1696348016 Looks like it is in...

Machine Not sure I need a drill press anymore

Ah yes, wood, I had forgotten all the many wooden projects I've done on the DP. A milling machine moves into the shop and all I can think about is the stuff I can make with it.

Rebuilding a 10" Standard Modern Utilathe

Brent, the woodruff key is definitely 3/16" or 4.90mm wide. 3/4" deep sounds right but I can't check as it is installed in the gear box at the moment so I can use 2nd gear.

Machine Not sure I need a drill press anymore

As soon as I got a space of my own to work in I have had a floor model drill press, but now that I can drill on the lathe or on the milling machine I'm wondering if I need the DP anymore. It takes up space that I could use to fit a surface grinder in.;) In the past 30yrs I can only remember a...

Rebuilding a 10" Standard Modern Utilathe

Brent, very cool! Could you take and post some pics of the gear cutting procedure? I haven't had much exposure to gear making but it is fascinating. Thanks so much.

    Bridgeport Knee Mill possibility

Oh good, now I don't feel quite so short, I had to build a 3 1/4" riser to change belt speeds.

Rebuilding a 10" Standard Modern Utilathe

@That-Guy, thank you for the kind words. I put the gearbox back together minus the one missing gear, so I only have 2 high and 2 low. It's enough to get it spinning under power, man is this machine loud, I've never run a gear driven lathe before so I'm sure they are louder than belt driven but...

    not able to login

Same here, registered 3yrs ago, couldn't login successfully until a couple of months ago. It kept telling me my email address was already taken by another member, but I was that member. Couldn't contact the administrator until I logged in ... frustrating. Perseverance won the day.

Tool Vevor Drill Bit Sharpener Improved

I just bought the 13B even though I'm okay with the Drill Dr. Now this is the old version of the DD when they only had one model. Not bad for $40usd and I've been using it for 8yrs.
