  • Several Regions have held meetups already, but others are being planned or are evaluating the interest. The Calgary Area Meetup is set for Saturday July 12th at 10am. The signup thread is here! Arbutus has also explored interest in a Fraser Valley meetup but it seems members either missed his thread or had other plans. Let him know if you are interested in a meetup later in the year by posting here! Slowpoke is trying to pull together an Ottawa area meetup later this summer. No date has been selected yet, so let him know if you are interested here! We are not aware of any other meetups being planned this year. If you are interested in doing something in your area, let everyone know and make it happen! Meetups are a great way to make new machining friends and get hands on help in your area.     I have only owned belt drive lathes and don't find an issue swapping the belt around it's quick and easy. Though I imagine back in the day when it was on an overhead line shaft it may have been a pain in the but.

    Doesn't take much to be cheaper than grainger I'm not sure I have ever seen somewhere that wasn't cheaper than grainger unless you have a business account with them and buy in high volume every year.

    What do you mean by belt flipping, I am not familiar with that term. I can post some videos once its up and running. Can't say when that will be but hopefully in the next couple of months. I intend to make a graduated dial for the cross feed one day.

    What did you use to cut them in half? I have never checked but always assumed parallels we quite hard.

    I have not been to OldWoodworkingMachines before but I have been to VintageMachinery.org a few times. Maybe one day when it is all done I will send in a picture. That is a really nice looking machine. Is the head stock sitting on riser blocks or was the bed cast with the riser as part of it?

    I had a barns no13 lathe with a 6 foot long bed. Sadly I had to sell it right after I finished it. I made a few test cuts and that was it. never really had a chance to use it. That was back in 2017.
