  • Several Regions have held meetups already, but others are being planned or are evaluating the interest. The Calgary Area Meetup is set for Saturday July 12th at 10am. The signup thread is here! Arbutus has also explored interest in a Fraser Valley meetup but it seems members either missed his thread or had other plans. Let him know if you are interested in a meetup later in the year by posting here! Slowpoke is trying to pull together an Ottawa area meetup later this summer. No date has been selected yet, so let him know if you are interested here! We are not aware of any other meetups being planned this year. If you are interested in doing something in your area, let everyone know and make it happen! Meetups are a great way to make new machining friends and get hands on help in your area. Don’t be shy, sign up and come, or plan your own meetup!

    Car designs suck

Yep, only we don't take liberties with the safety stuff. Occasionally you need to colour outside if the lines a bit....but Great reply. My perspective was always from the revision side of parts production, where they were mostly changing stuff to make assembly easier. Or parts cheaper....As...

Tools you waited too long to acquire

The joy of heated floors isn't just for laying on. Standing and working on it is immediately noticeable in your feet, your legs, knees etc. SOooo much more enjoyable to work on over a cold concrete slab over the course of a day. The radiating heat also keeps machines and tools at a more...

    Car designs suck

I routinely get to work on stuff they seemingly built the plant around. What a treat.....Not going to lie, it's actually quite fun and provides a lot of unique problem solving opportunities, and creative multistage rigging moves. Still frustrating and word inventing though...... Don't get me...

    MT#4 keyless chuck for trade

Integral shank? Check to make sure it's not a JT taper holding the shank and body together. Can't tell from this angle, but that undercut there leads me to believe it's 2 separate pieces and you can wedge them apart and replace with a JT-Mt3 shank for little dollars (under $20). I had a nice...

Then you could simply screw it down to a fixture plate and tilt it on the angle via sine plate. once you walk...

OTTAWA Area - Flat Taper in Mild Steel Plate

https://www.cutmyparts.ca/ And https://www.readysetcut.ca/ Are both Ontario based services like send cut send. Cheaper too without cross border stuff, and exchange rates. As for the taper that is going to be fun. I would find someone with an autofeed surface grinder and sine vice with...

Calculate proper radius for scalloping with boring head

I always liked using the fixed jaw of the vise when setting (trying) to a number. Pick up the jaw with an edge finder, move over the radius, Insert the boring head and adjust until tooltip just touches jaw. You're pretty close there depending on stick and how the cutter cuts. Maybe 1-1.5"...

Welcome to Westwood Metalworks, What is he building in there?

I like that pepper idea. Might be worth a try. I'll pick some up tomorrow but also set a smaller trap too.
