  • Several Regions have held meetups already, but others are being planned or are evaluating the interest. The Calgary Area Meetup is set for Saturday July 12th at 10am. The signup thread is here! Arbutus has also explored interest in a Fraser Valley meetup but it seems members either missed his thread or had other plans. Let him know if you are interested in a meetup later in the year by posting here! Slowpoke is trying to pull together an Ottawa area meetup later this summer. What's Paul up to?

I don't think it's that same machine. This one came out of a machine shop in downtown Victoria some 25 years ago. It had been abandoned when th space was repurposed as a kayak shop. The owner was easy enough to track down and it came home where I ran it with a 2HP motor for a while, though...

    WTB: 5HP 3PH motor 600-1200 RPM

That looks totally usable! And I'll be in Victoria on Tuesday. And I might even have a 2HP 3PH motor here in my stable, though that means changing the motor on my compressor again. If I can get that done today I'll bring the 2HP one to town and we can figure out how to trade them. DM...

    WTB: 5HP 3PH motor 600-1200 RPM

There is, though it's one more level of complication. I was thinking of doing v-belts from the motor to the jack shaft, and flat after that. But I'd rather avoid it if I can. One advantage of the belts is that the hazard is lower for dogs' tails. Putting a 4' long cage being the machine...

    What's Paul up to?

It's been a really busy start of the year with very little shop time - most of it has been going into the kitchen renovation. But there are a few wins this week. First, chimney is finally up for the forge. I had to make up a collar to support the chimney against the roof purlins. It's a...

    WTB: 5HP 3PH motor 600-1200 RPM

I have a 30" bandsaw/resaw that needs power. I've taken advice recommending a 5 horse motor for it, running at low speed. The saw is flat-belt driven, and good power transmission really wants a fairly large pulley at the motor, hence the low speed. Anyone on Vancouver Island have anything...

Netflix price increase at wrong time entirely

I exactly agree. I cut Amazon Prime the day they showed me an ad. Netflix has the same treatment. I don't ever pay the mouse if I can help it (they reneged on a contract early in my career - f them). I don't need them any more than I needed cable in the 90's, which was not at all.
