  • Several Regions have held meetups already, but others are being planned or are evaluating the interest. The Calgary Area Meetup is set for Saturday July 12th at 10am. The signup thread is here! Arbutus has also explored interest in a Fraser Valley meetup but it seems members either missed his thread or had other plans. Let him know if you are interested in a meetup later in the year by posting here! Slowpoke is trying to pull together an Ottawa area meetup later this summer. No date has been selected yet, so let him know if you are interested here! We are not aware of any other meetups being planned this year. G-Code examples

My first job in software was programming HP pen plotters. It was, of course, using a proprietary HP "g-code". And when you crash the pen plotters you only scribble over other line...

    Tool Lathe Stops

I've been mucking about adding this as a feature on my Clough-derived ELS. Put a micro switch in the stop wired to the ELS control. Could stop there and still maintain spindle-to-leadscrew synchronization. Even better if I gave it a wee shock absorber to mount it on to absorb the movement...

    Tool How to drive taps

Annoyingly I see the "tap and die chart" app, which only shows a 75% engagement chart, and not the Calculator app. Thanks Google.

    New to me colchester lathe

The lead screw can come out at the tailstock end, I think. Probably just a screw or two holding a block against the ways casting. So pull that, then bring the carriage off at that end. That way you don't have to undo the lead screw at the headstock which is uglier.

    What's Paul up to?

I got a reply back. Somehow the fellow has all(?) the bits and bobs for the head, but doesn't have the principal casting. The trail goes cold there, and the seller isn't particularly interested in parting with the head components. A reasonable offer would be more than I'm willing to take a...

    What's Paul up to?

No one seems to believe that ecologies are dynamic and that you can never go back. So crazy things get pulled out in an attempt to take things back to some state that they were never actually in.

    Weiss VM32 CNC mill conversion

I've used mine with poly sheeting to contain the mess. I try not to use it unless I really need to, it's just too much cleanup. I've been thinking of building a booth to contain the whole machine and mess, but how do I clean the booth properly? And keep access to my handwheels. Which brings...

    Index plate .STL file wanted

That depends on what kind of accuracy you want. Hole to hole you're likely to see some variance, but the error won't accumulate as you go from hole to hole, meaning you do fine for most gear teeth, etc. Ie, you'll wind up with 127 teeth in the end, but with minor variance on their exact...

SOURCING A VFD - WHERE DO YOU GO ?

I've had a vevor cheapo die on me. I won't detail their approach to customer service except to quote "we will pay up to $80 for a local technician to repair your device". I paid $110. And ain't no way a "local technician" will even look at it for under $300. Just getting the replacement...
