Nice work Peter, wish I came across your version before I made mine this past weekend, like the Chinese, I would have copied it. Here's my version using an old micrometer head, built the handle from spare parts, machined a round nut that can be timed to allow a 1/4 turn of the handle to...

    Atlas 1020 Drill Press Restoration

I know, I know ... a drill press isn't the sexiest thing in a shop, but I just love mine. I saved it from being tossed in the garbage, it had missing parts, looked ugly and sounded like it had rocks in it. After a complete teardown, replacing all the bearings and making some new parts, its the...

Peter, the thickest material I work with is .125 with 6061 usually for tanks that will be stationary, for custom fuel tanks on atv's sleds etc i always go to 5052 .063 thick because of its mechanical properties. I chose the Miller Diversion 180 primarily because I needed to start welding and...

How would you do it chuck back plate.

Don, that's the same spindle mount on my Craftex CX706 10x22 lathe. I made a chuck back plate for my 5c collet chuck, the centre hole is just clearance, your chuck plate will register on the outer surface of the clearance hole, I believe it's 1.965 in diameter, not sure what your lathe is, but I...
