  • Several Regions have held meetups already, but others are being planned or are evaluating the interest. The Calgary Area Meetup is set for Saturday July 12th at 10am. The signup thread is here! Arbutus has also explored interest in a Fraser Valley meetup but it seems members either missed his thread or had other plans. Let him know if you are interested in a meetup later in the year by posting here! Slowpoke is trying to pull together an Ottawa area meetup later this summer. No date has been selected yet, so let him know if you are interested here! We are not aware of any other meetups being planned this year. Early Version Atlas 7 inch Shaper Rebuild

Some of the first parts I needed to make are some wiper covers for the slide ways. This early version wasn't equipped with them but the 7B's were. So I decided to fabricate them as close to the original ones as possible. Its just made from sheet aluminum, formed and polished. The next part I...

Early Version Atlas 7 inch Shaper Rebuild

With all the components disassembled I discovered this old shaper had 3 different shades of green painted on over the last 80 years. The next order of business was assessing the damage and wear. I started with the main body of the shaper and can see that all the slideway surfaces will require...

Early Version Atlas 7 inch Shaper Rebuild

I've been in search for an atlas Shaper for awhile to complete my collection of Atlas machines I've already rebuilt (can be found on my other posts) and finally came across this one from Ontario. For sale Atlas 7B shaper

Ok finally got an Atlas Shaper from Ontario - Its an early version with serial number 101, the biggest differences in this early version compared to the 7B that most people have: does not have a table support, the ratchet housing is made from cast iron rather than Zamak, it uses 3 gib screws on...

    Lathe Stop

Absolutely, that's why I used an old head I had around, it's a "Lufkin" older one made in the USA but it wasn't in the best of shape, not the best turning action, so didn't mind sacrificing it, especially like to use the hardened ground rod as a stop. I salvaged it from a broken 5" micrometer
