  • Several Regions have held meetups already, but others are being planned or are evaluating the interest. The Calgary Area Meetup is set for Saturday July 12th at 10am. The signup thread is here! Arbutus has also explored interest in a Fraser Valley meetup but it seems members either missed his thread or had other plans. Let him know if you are interested in a meetup later in the year by posting here! Slowpoke is trying to pull together an Ottawa area meetup later this summer. Product Vise Stop!

The price of the one below is tempting - but it is a weak want (and not a need). I park this spare indicator magnetic base at the back of the mill tray - it works well, no tools are needed, it is quick to adjust/place, and has a fine adjustment. (I bought a dial indicator from Accusize. The...

Tools you waited too long to acquire

Resurrecting (updating) the bandsaw discussion: I started with new bearings. That was a good start. New blades are the next thing up for the bandsaw (I just need to get a-round-to-it) So I did eventually order some new blades (10/14 and 6/10 tpi bimetal from Skookum) They are great and (IMO)...

Tools you waited too long to acquire

Yep I got the real McCoy - they arrived today. By getting a few 100 then the delivered & taxes in cost is 3 cents each. Tools you waited too long to acquire

I’ve been using (for years) mechanic gloves like the the ones I just ordered today: https://www.amazon.ca/gp/aw/d/B0D3SFF6XN/ref=ox_sc_act_title_1?smid=A2PFMNRJLMA93V&psc=1 I liked ChazzC’s suggestion to use a finger cots on a magnetic pickup tool to easily manage the swarf. Thanks for that...

    Broken Spring

selecting / comparing springs: FWIW - here is a picture where I was trying to match the spring rate of the blackish-coloured spring in the middle (it was for my used Gerardi vise which was missing a spring). I had lots of springs from which to choose, but I wanted to match the spring rate at a...

    Broken Spring

I'm pretty sure I got those compression springs from S. B. Simpson (about 3/16" dia x 1" long). They are sort-of my McMaster-Carr type guys that are local in Burlington. Most fastener or bearing suppliers can order whatever size you want. PS - edit - come to think of it, I believe it was...
