    Klopp Shaper Update

The phase converter needs to be sized at 2x the HP of the electrical motor when it is considered a hard to start motor. Since this is driving a 7.5 HP hydraulic motor, it is definitely a hard starter.

    Klopp Shaper Update

That is what I picked up. It was recommended to cover it with a good quality electrical tape also.

Got it. I was wondering what those were called now. That is what I am going to use for the connections. Thanks for the clarification. I thought I was old school too!

    Klopp Shaper Update

It is right around 5000lb with the vise and all the tooling that came with it. No problem to bring it down on the trailer. New lathe choices in Canada

I spoke to the gentleman in Thunder Bay regarding the above mill. He is a retired machinist from the paper mill there and was doing small projects on the side. It is converted from 3 phase to single phase but he still has the original motor. The asking price was $7000 with a bunch of tooling.

Greeting from the flats of SK

New member here. I picked up a 9“ Hercus lathe a couple years ago to make a few things for the farm. One thing led to another and I am now looking for a mill. New shop to fill. I weld (poorly) but grind excellent. There are always projects to work on over the winter on the farm so I am looking...
