  • Several Regions have held meetups already, but others are being planned or are evaluating the interest. The Calgary Area Meetup is set for Saturday July 12th at 10am. The signup thread is here! Arbutus has also explored interest in a Fraser Valley meetup but it seems members either missed his thread or had other plans. Let him know if you are interested in a meetup later in the year by posting here! Slowpoke is trying to pull together an Ottawa area meetup later this summer. No date has been selected yet, so let him know if you are interested here! We are not aware of any other meetups being planned this year. I think the most cost effective way to form the body would be metal spinning.

Clarkson Mk2 Tool and Cutter Grinder

Nice score! I bought the Clarkson Mk. I from the same place. Still storing it at a friends place while I re-organize my shop. I will have to sort out a good dust collection system since it will be in a small space with other machines. Is that a wheel adapter on the Mk. II for more common...

Clearpath Servo Motor and Accessories $500

I was in touch with them yes, other than the fine tuning slider in the software they didn’t have any other advice for me. I could try following up and pressing the issue but I’d rather just get the machine running with minimal fuss. I got a used 2hp 230v 3ph motor from an industrial surplus...

Clearpath Servo Motor and Accessories $500

The mill that I tried it on is a Bridgeport clone with a variable speed head and a hi/low back gear. I found that after tuning the motor and running it, if I changed the speed mechanically with either the variable speed selector or the hi/low selector I would get “servo noise”. Sort of a...

real old lathe is gonna follow me home

I don’t think it would be a tapered thread. At least I’ve never heard of a tapered thread spindle nose. From what I can find online, old hendey tie bar lathes that size are 2-1/2” 6tpi or 2-3/4” 5tpi.

    Product Fine tooth hole saw?

I’ve notched a lot of thin tubing having made a lot of bicycle frames. I use mostly Morse hole saws and they are reasonably fine pitch. I got mine from McMaster-Carr. If you can find them, the discontinued Starrett constant pitch ones are good too. Make yourself a more rigid arbor on the...

real old lathe is gonna follow me home

On my Hendey T&G the end of the cross slide leadscrew is attached to a sliding block that the taper attachment moved. So when the taper attachment is in use it pulls the end of the leadscrew and moves the whole assembly. The opposite end of the leadscrew with the handwheel is simply long...

Clearpath Servo Motor and Accessories $500

It can be controlled via 0-10v signal through the analog conversion board that clearpath sells. It can also be configured for PWM or frequency speed control. Direction and start/stop are simple circuits that just require a <12v signal.
