Which surface plate should I get?

A lip makes it easier to move the plate around or pick it up. I have a 36x24 plate that was cheapish used and came with the stand. The stand was the perfect height to slide the plate off into the bed of a truck and then back onto the stand. Because the precision of my plate is unknown I have...

Want to know about the current situation of Canadian machining enterprises, who can talk about it briefly?

Didn’t really feel like using my half hour lunch to go to get belts from...

I just made the new plate. Cut to size, rounded the corners and did the holes for the switches. For some context it goes on the left front cover of the base as seen in this photo. Same place the controls would have been originally. The VFD will be mounted inside the same cover.

Stainless 1” shafting is available through Fastenal. At a previous job of mine we used a lot of it making conveyers for food and pharmaceutical applications.

I just looked at McMaster-Carr and they have “ultra-straight tight tolerance shafting” that is specd at .0015” straightness per foot. 3ft of 1” will run you $200 US plus shipping and tax.
