  • Several Regions have held meetups already, but others are being planned or are evaluating the interest. The Calgary Area Meetup is set for Saturday July 12th at 10am. The signup thread is here! Arbutus has also explored interest in a Fraser Valley meetup but it seems members either missed his thread or had other plans. Let him know if you are interested in a meetup later in the year by posting here! Slowpoke is trying to pull together an Ottawa area meetup later this summer. No date has been selected yet, so let him know if you are interested here! We are not aware of any other meetups being planned this year. Looking for milling machine purchase help/advice

I'm a lot like the way you describe yourself, except I started the machining hobby about 7 years ago and I'm finding it a ton of fun. BTW this is a great forum for its down to earth no nonsense friendly advice. I started with a smaller benchtop mill similar to the CX601 except a round column...

    2002 VW Golf refurb

Unless the input shaft is broken (been there done that), I think I have broken pretty much every stock part from the input shaft, front yoke, universal joints, differentials and axles, but never a clutch or top loader transmission. Fortunately the aftermarket has much stronger than stock...

    Air compressor not restarting

If you do bypass the thermal cut out, you should definitely keep an eye on the current while doing so, your basically doing the old aluminum foil over the fuse trick and we know how that one usually plays out. If you have a weak capacitor it will cause excessive current draw. You might even find...

Hmmm. I have never witnessed a clutch fail like that. Will be interesting to see what's up when you get it out. I would not be ordering parts before it was out.

    Air compressor not restarting

More telling what the current draw is just before the compressor cuts out or the overload trips. Current should increase as pressure increases, because the motor needs to work harder as the pressure builds.

Tips/Techniques For Chawbeef -- feed screw shield

I'm trying to understand the Ali ordering description. For example, 25-400-40-38: The following guesses may be incorrect...... A) 25mm is the small end diameter, needs to be slightly larger then your leadscrew? B) 400mm length when extended, needs to be long enough. C) 40mm is the minimum...

    2002 VW Golf refurb

You souped up four banger guys make me chuckle. Countless times some kid pulled up beside me at a light with some form of hopped up turbocharged whatever car. If I'm serious about leaving in a hurry I need to warm the very soft compound M&H street tires I use ( that's what the line lock is for)...
