  • Several Regions have held meetups already, but others are being planned or are evaluating the interest. The Calgary Area Meetup is set for Saturday July 12th at 10am. The signup thread is here! Arbutus has also explored interest in a Fraser Valley meetup but it seems members either missed his thread or had other plans. Let him know if you are interested in a meetup later in the year by posting here! Slowpoke is trying to pull together an Ottawa area meetup later this summer. Do these potentiometer numbers mean anything to anyone?

It's also possible to change the resistance characteristics of a pot - the 'taper' and also the max resistance - by using a fixed resistor (which costs a few cents) in parallel with 2 of the pot terminals. This can be handy when you don't have the right pot value in your junk collection. Playing...

Do these potentiometer numbers mean anything to anyone?

I liked that large treadle when I had a Brother industrial machine. Does yours have a knee presser foot lift lever as well? That Vevor drop-in repleacement would be looking better and better to me! :) You could probably sell the treadmill motor setup and the old AC clutch motor to recoup some...

Do these potentiometer numbers mean anything to anyone?

Well, it would be simple for @DPittman to find the answer to that- just replace that 6k or 5k pot in his controller with a 1k or 20k pot. Perhaps it would make no difference, which would be a good thing as it would open up more possibilities for using a standard pedal. @DPittman may be...

Do these potentiometer numbers mean anything to anyone?

I don't know how many of the participants in this discussion use sewing machines. I've sewed quite a bit and have worked on quite a few sewing machines and their pedals. @DPittman mentioned " an ancient old sewing machine from a clutch driven motor to a variable speed dc motor ". Most of those...

    Any solutions to my problem?

I'm pretty sure the component in the circuit board is a basic sliding pot. BTW, I've seen sewing machine pedals that do rotate the shaft of a rotary pot - one way to organize that is with a sliding (vertical) rack in a channel and pinion on the pot shaft. Lots of interesting variants...One of my...

    Any solutions to my problem?

No, it's a generic 'electronic' sewing machine pedal - $20-25 or so from amazon, and a few dollars at the thrift store if they have one. Some of the pedals just have the resistor and low power circuitry - look for a 1/8 phone type connector
