    Car designs suck

As I mentioned in another thread one of my main concerns with the current state of modern designs is proprietary software. Modern vehicles don't seem to be any different. What do you do when you go to start your 2009 Chevy Uplander and it doesn't start? A lot of us figure it out and are back...

    Really ?

One of my jobs as an electrician was working in the Maintenance Department at a hospital. The hospital had a DALI lighting system (Digital Addressable Lighting Interface). Most floors had a mini computer in an IT closet running the control software. During my time there two of the computers...

When I was a kid I remember watching my dad pour old motor oil over a gravel walkway between our house and garage to kill weeds. Cripes...

    Car designs suck

I wonder what the future of Auto Wreckers will be with newer vehicles? I have saved some decent money going to the wreckers and it can be an enjoyable way to spend an afternoon. Met some real characters out there. If it takes hours and a garage full of tools to get at simple parts it may make...

In all seriousness, there is something about old tools, farm machinery, vehicles and such with the fancy ornate embellishments, stamping, etc. that I find very appealing. I could spend hours in a museum looking at hardware like that vise vs minutes in a modern art gallery.

    Tool Amazing Vise

Understandable. This year, as with years past, my wife spent a small fortune on outdoor flowers and accessories. And, as with years past, I didn't say a thing. Even though, I am pretty sure, once in full bloom I can't eat them or use them to pay for things. So I'd put that damn vise on my...

    Really ?

At my last place of employment I worked with a guy who had purchased a new Hyundai Santa Fe. It might have been a 2020 or 2021 model. He told me at the time (2023) the vehicle had spent more time at the dealership for warranty repairs than in his driveway. I have read about numerous issues...
