    Boring Advice Sought

Just for the sake of setup discussion..... Do not know if it would have worked, but I might have attempted it this way. Would this work? Drill/bore the through hole first using a four jaw on the lathe, then with a rod that just fits, put that in the tail stock chuck and verify it goes through...

Machine Considering Buying a King 1236ML Looking for Opinions

I bought a "machinist" level off of Amazon as well, when I got my new lathe a few years back. Sounds like I went through the exact frustrations you have been going through. Another issue I had with mine was that the bubble moved very slowly, and once it got going, it often kept going. So when an...

    Tips/Techniques Thank you thread.

I would not even know where to start to start Thanking contributors to forums like this. I frequent a few forums, based on which hobby I am active in for that moment, and could not have achieved anywhere near the satisfaction from my projects, were it not for the input from perfect strangers...

Have you guys seen the modified side cutter for removing rivets? I have used it a few times. Sometimes, it is the perfect tool to speed a process, especially if you have a few to do. Just grind a set of diagonal pliers so they sit flush on the skin. After removing the factory head, use the...

    2x72 sander

Because of this thread, I popped back in here and realized I did not submit the final photos of my build and wanted to add a few comments. Project review.... It has been a great addition to my shop and was a fun project. A couple of quirks worth noting. The motor may be too small for this...

    Tig torch adapter?

Thanks @trevj After posting this, I went to the Everlast Welding site where I got the welder and they had a #9F cable assembly on sale. I ordered it up and my (pre-tariff )Amazon #17F fits on it, so I now have an extra cable and 2 flex heads. And then the #26 rigid torch and cable assembly...

My impression, from friends who have built several aircraft with different methods. If MIG welding, then post heat (normalizing) is pretty much a given (necessary) due to the speed of the weld (no inherent preheating in the process). If gas welding, then slowly removing heat takes care of the...

    2x72 grinder discussion

I built one a few years ago. Thread here. Like it a lot and use it almost daily. Regrets though are only that the treadmill motor I used is one of the smaller ones available. The controller is not ideal for this application as it is easy to bog down, and it used to blow fuses. I installed a...
