  • Several Regions have held meetups already, but others are being planned or are evaluating the interest. The Calgary Area Meetup is set for Saturday July 12th at 10am. The signup thread is here! Arbutus has also explored interest in a Fraser Valley meetup but it seems members either missed his thread or had other plans. Let him know if you are interested in a meetup later in the year by posting here! Slowpoke is trying to pull together an Ottawa area meetup later this summer. No date has been selected yet, so let him know if you are interested here! We are not aware of any other meetups being planned this year. Are 1/4" fittings different for welding gas cylinders than for air lines?

I have cut up to 1/4" aluminum on my table saw with a carbide blade. First time I did it, I was amazed. Like butta...☺ Now, the 2024T3 that I am working with lately seems to be a lot different to deal with than 6061. I am learning that knowing what one is working with might mean more than...

Are 1/4" fittings different for welding gas cylinders than for air lines?

I googled my question.... Sounds like you will need another fitting as well and tee or blending valve Argon Argon is a rare, inert gas, making it relatively expensive but unreactive with the metals it's cutting. Using argon gas improves the stability of the arc and prevents atmospheric...

Are 1/4" fittings different for welding gas cylinders than for air lines?

I would change the fitting on the tig welder so they are all the same...not recommended in industry but if you want options in your shop, .... Or make an adapting whip. Why do you want to run expensive argon through the plasma cutter? Is it for special metals or ...?

    Set screws for aluminum plate

Most of the hardware is plated steel but there is a fair amount of stainless fasteners. From what I have seen, all screws are stainless, think fairings and interior panels, and bolts are plated . See excerpt below from the Aircraft Spruce link posted above "....Hex head aircraft bolts are made...

Other Safeties Use them or Not?

To add interupts to a normally closed circuit, they would go in series. Any switch will break the loop. In a normally open circuit, then they can be put in parallel as any one will close the loop.

Other Safeties Use them or Not?

"In parallel" might not be the way to do this. I am sure you will trace out the wiring or check the schematic but, in some installations, this might be akin to put a normally closed switch in parallel with another normally closed switch. Ain't gonna work. Just a heads up before you go. If that...

    Shawn's plane projects

I completed the tail wheel conversion today. I first removed all of the old paint from the spring, then I measured the length of the chuck jaws (1.9") . I then measured the diameter of the spring at two points that distance apart to determine the taper that the chuck jaws would "see" and the...

    Shawn's plane projects

What biplane is that? We had a local guy building an Osprey here years ago but it was destroyed in a house fire. The Wooden airplane was in his carport. A couple of local guys designed, built, and won the designs competition at Oshkosh one year. Aircraft Spruce now sells their plans. I watched...
