    2002 VW Golf refurb

buy crap, when it dies buy another one. Buy a whole slew of $250 cars with the intent of fixing them, three or four at a time, then slowly scrap them one at a time. SWMBO won’t let me do that anymore, sigh.

    2002 VW Golf refurb

I’ve owned a lot of cars, last count was 42. For my massive 5”10”, 140 lbs frame a Miata fits like a glove. Most fun car I’ve ever owned. Handles great, short throw shift lever feels more like a toggle switch than a gear shift. More than enough ooomph to put a grin on the drivers face.

    Really ?

Forgive us. In my defense, memory is good for stuff that happened in 1979 but not good for all of an eleven-page forum post. Plus I think this is an extreme example of topic creep typically occurring here. Maybe even an example of topic gallop.

    Really ?

Maybe? One’s head won’t notice the difference between hitting the curb falling off a bicycle at 20 kph or falling off a motorcycle at 20 kph. In BC, except for religious exemptions, helmets are legislated for all two-wheeled open vehicles.

Tips/Techniques LFA Keyless Chuck - Jammed

Anyone here with experience with old LFA keyless chucks? Ran across this beauty, probably 50 years old, 5 lbs of solid steel. But jammed. Any idea how to pull it apart for cleaning/repair? Seems to be a collar at the top of the chuck, but it won’t unscrew with a reasonable amount of force and I...

How to clean inside a cylinder

Don’t get too wound up about the method to hone the cylinder. A hone can be as simple as a hardwood dowel wrapped in successively finer grades of sandpaper, then final finish with another hardwood dowel charged with rouge. The fancy professional hones do the same as a block of wood, just faster...

    Really ?

How many of you have had a real motorcycle accident? Not a low speed dump, but a true high-speed ass over teakettle high speed separation of bike and rider? This is the Alex Fraser Bridge in Vancouver. Scenario: I’m tootling over the bridge, rush hour, speed limit is 90k. Mid-span, traffic is...
