  • Several Regions have held meetups already, but others are being planned or are evaluating the interest. The Calgary Area Meetup is set for Saturday July 12th at 10am. The signup thread is here! Arbutus has also explored interest in a Fraser Valley meetup but it seems members either missed his thread or had other plans. Let him know if you are interested in a meetup later in the year by posting here! Slowpoke is trying to pull together an Ottawa area meetup later this summer. No date has been selected yet, so let him know if you are interested here! We are not aware of any other meetups being planned this year. steel tubing based work bench

Just some notes based on experience @PeterT - miters are prettier but typically I've cut them w/ a chop saw and found that I never got the ends cut square or precisely 45° - when I go to weld the miters (even w/ well planned and executed tacking, clamping to a heavy welding bench, using Bessey...

Not really a request for forum changes, but...

@TorontoBuilder - this idea has come up in my past relating to similar but different situations - here's some things I've seen/have been discussed by others using me as a sounding board. "Tool Crib" - name is from Army maintenance shops (in my experience) - technicians are issued their own tool...

@Susquatch - I fluked into having a tool holder per tool - I bought a "set" because of the pricing and added on a number of the standard tool holders - there was a crappier (the 3/8" tools) that I bought from BB when I bought the machines; I trusted the 'knowledgeable' staff and then bought the...

    CX706 or CX709?

I also have a CX709"X" and have learned a bunch from reading this. It was great to save the $1000 (I believe there were only a couple more in Ontario when I bought mine mid-2021), but they aren't w/o their headaches. Keep me in the loop if you guys find a solution to the chuck 'pride' and/or...

BXA (wedge style) QCTP dimensions: What really matters... OEM tool post height in relation to chuck axis (I know for a fact that the tool is not in the chuck square - I didn't expect the dimensions to be this close to one another so I felt I was w/in a tolerable amount of precision when I did...

Warning: this is going to be long and detailed w/ many pictures - there are notes on the majority of pictures but I will try to caption them so less reading is required. I will do a second post immediately following this one w/ QCTP measurements... this is mainly an inventory of tool holders...

I'm reading and processing everything - the BXA and AXA tool holders don't interchange with each other without modification (see pic - reference is in the file name - it's been posted somewhere in the forum before). That being said - if I change the tool post to the AXA, all of the BXA tool...

@YotaBota - agreed on the parting tool - I've already run into that w/ the current setup. With the kits/tools I bought I have three different versions... I think the one w/ the large blade (see pic) will work. I did also end up w/ 3/8" tooling when I bought the machine, so I still do have...

This is "genius" - I can take what he did there and run w/ it... as I learn more I can go back and help myself out by performing the small detail operations (slots in the bottom of the QCTP that matches up w/ the 'springed' locator pin, etc.). Thanks a ton guys for paying attention, remembering...
