  • Several Regions have held meetups already, but others are being planned or are evaluating the interest. The Calgary Area Meetup is set for Saturday July 12th at 10am. The signup thread is here! Arbutus has also explored interest in a Fraser Valley meetup but it seems members either missed his thread or had other plans. Let him know if you are interested in a meetup later in the year by posting here! Slowpoke is trying to pull together an Ottawa area meetup later this summer. No date has been selected yet, so let him know if you are interested here! We are not aware of any other meetups being planned this year.     cool project, and looking good! when I engrave bigger areas I use a surface gauge to make sure that the work surface is indeed parallel to the table, consistent dept of cut makes for more consistent line width... I,ve also got a cool sfm calculator kicking around: this is off of a big SIP...

    thanks for the pointer, I'll have to try a lap - the scraping marks I am making are kinda scratchy looking and I want to try to improve that... though maybe material is part of the issue? some of the scraping I've seen results in a mirror-like surface (through the scraping marks) but I suppose...

    nope, but it is reversible so you can loosen both wheels by accident and wonder what the rattling noise is is slow speed of much benefit? I see that some people make slow speed grinders but others say it doesn't matter for carbide
