  • Several Regions have held meetups already, but others are being planned or are evaluating the interest. The Calgary Area Meetup is set for Saturday July 12th at 10am. The signup thread is here! Arbutus has also explored interest in a Fraser Valley meetup but it seems members either missed his thread or had other plans. Let him know if you are interested in a meetup later in the year by posting here! Slowpoke is trying to pull together an Ottawa area meetup later this summer. Peavey Mart Closing

In the west, Bolt Supply House has been pretty good for my needs. Bonus for me is same distance to Bolt as Home Depot. And they have ordered odd ball fasteners for reasonable price. Hopefully Bolt doesn’t go the same way as what used to be a good fastener supplier in Wpg (Adams) that started to...

    Peavey Mart Closing

Wpg had 80 cu ft argon and argon/C02 bottles as owner exchange until Peavey stopped offering this. Now the remaining businesses, including the one that supplied Peavey will only do 40’s and in one case 55’s. Hope that doesn’t happen with Peavey closures elsewhere. Annoying to those who don’t use...

    0.035 Outershield/dualshield worth it?

Yup, dual shield not flux core. Yup, 0.035 dualshield not as common as 0.045 and bigger, but available. Manual for my machine says it is a supported process, just a Lincoln 215mpi. Not doing any commercial work, just trying to get better.

    0.035 Outershield/dualshield worth it?

Thank you. I’m running on garage 50amps, not in an industrial setting. I can and have run 7018 and could continue, just trying to be faster, maybe better? If I understand correctly at 25 volts 350 feed (what my chart says for 0.035 dualshield, and coincidentally this is maxxing out my welder)...

    Tool Identifying this dial indicator

Thanks for this thread. Kinda wondered why a mentor from years ago had all Federal indicators, some of which I bought from his estate sale. Being an NDT expert in the RCAF, and later in private work for airlines around the world may have influenced his purchasing or where he got equipment second...

    0.035 Outershield/dualshield worth it?

I’m not a professional welder so please forgive if this is basic. My welder hasn’t the cojones to drive more than 0.035” Outershied. Understand 0.045 and thicker dual shield is the bees knees for structural, but for lighter work, is 0.035 Outershield that much better at penetration than regular...

    Kinda cool?? Anyone have one?

I know some Volstro’s (maybe all?) use an ‘E’ collet, not an ‘ER’. A little fact to know in case buying one without collets.

International Day of the Drill Grinder?

I see from another thread you are getting the info you need from a Clarkson owner. This is fantastic- now no worries about differences in the stuff above the base Clarkson vs Osborn.

    Tool Mcgyver's drill sharpener

Well, that was an interesting exercise post dinner. Just looked up translations of Pillar in most European languages and a few others. Knew some but not all. A stela though is an inscribed column. Pillar?
