    Car designs suck

Agree with this. Unfortunately lots of people have been convinced otherwise so we're stuck with it until the next great leader that will set us on another path. I'm middle of the road when it comes to green, having been involved in green energy (wind turbines) and the oil & gas industry...

    Real estate listings suck

You're not far from my work over on Canotek, and I used to live in Beacon Hill North back as a teenager. Unfortunately, probably out of my budget, house is big, but not that big that it will command a price enough to move into that neighborhood without adding debt. Your neighborhood has been...

    Shoulder check

I saw an interesting BBC article, it will stir the pot as the solution was to fix the roads not the drivers (to paraphrase alot: can't fix stupid). https://www.bbc.com/future/article/20240517-vision-zero-how-europe-cut-the-number-of-people-dying-on-its-roads

Too bad, your place sounds like its exactly what I'm looking for!

    Real estate listings suck

I should say one good thing about realtors - the buddy network. If you have an agent, they can tell other agents about the listing before it goes full public, helping the buyer be at the front of the line for good listings. Only really an advantage in medium to hot markets, too hot and its...

    Real estate listings suck

Thanks for the discussion. I've used realtors a total of 3 times now, first house search started in 1999 and 6 months later finished in March 2000, second was in 2014 and third was 2015. Lets just say that 2 out of 3 were not to my liking. The 2014 2015 were a purchase and a later sale after...

    Real estate listings suck

I'd agree with this, except that a least some of the listings are empty houses and still no garage picks. I think that garages are just not "good looking" to most real estate people and they just don't understand.

    Real estate listings suck

Tangentially related to hobby metal work, a rant on real estate... I'm hopefully only a few years away from retirement or semi retirement. Also likely going to be empty nesters living in a much too big house, and much as I enjoy my climate controlled basement workshop, a ground level shop makes...

DMC2 Mini Mill - Another build and review

Yeah, I bought mine assuming that I'd never use Mach3 and treated it as if it wasn't included. It important to note that it DOES NOT actually say it ships with a licensed copy of Mach3, more that it has a Mach3 compatible board. I'm not sure about the CD - I don't think I installed from it -...

    Webster I.C. Project.

I made 18+ good valves for my radial project, 0.093" diameter stem. (and about as many bad ones). I struggled to get a good finish on them. The tips that helped me get a good surface finish: 1. use a very sharp tool (positive rake) with a small nose radius - I used a DCGT carbide insert...
