    Tool Mitutoyo adjustable parallels REVIEW

I have a Starrett set. Made in USA. They were NIB from a tool buy. The smallest two were crusty as well. Grinding dust, etc in the slots. Needed a lot of work to get them to even slide half decently. They work now, but not silky smooth like their big brothers in the same set. They will need more...

    Looking for an insert

If you want a sharp insert that lasts in mild steel and has good performance in tool steels as well, get a quality one specifically made for stainless steel. They are both sharp and tough. (They also work well in aluminum). I have mentioned this elsewhere, @Dabbler, @johnnielsen & I did a...

    Best 10" lathe?

I don’t think Harding HLV-Hs are available new any more. Same with Monarch 10EEs. The Monarchs can be factory reconditioned to like new, if you find a used one. There are Hardinge clones available new. Here is just one of them: https://sharp-industries.com/product/1118h/ They cost a lot.

    Tool Stubby Drill Bits

Yes Mike, all is well. Took some time off work and travelled East. That’s a good point. The drills I have “converted “ must have been of the thicker web type as the resulting stubbies seem to work fine.

    Tool Stubby Drill Bits

You could always cut a jobber length one in half and sharpen the now stubby portion… (if you happen to have multiples of the tap hole size ones).

Helical cut gears - design solutions for lateral forces.

Another option is to machine the case down for zero clearance (or even slightly negative clearance) and use the desired thickness of gasket between the halves to give the required end play. I have seen this in tractor gearboxes bearing caps to adjust shaft endplay.

Helical cut gears - design solutions for lateral forces.

Might these work: Bellville Disk Springs for Ball Bearings? One finds them in electric motors to pre-load the rotor shaft bearings. https://www.mcmaster.com/products/belleville-washers/system-of-measurement~metric/belleville-disc-springs-for-ball-bearings/ Edit: you might have to make the...

    Auction

They are NMTB 40 tool holders. I have three different drawbars for the Deckel mill: a Deckel (OEM threaded one), a Metric and an SAE one. That opens up a lot possibilities as far as used tooling is concerned. I believe CAT 40 tooling also works - just need a special pull stud. I don’t have any...

    Auction

I think there were some decent deals. I snagged a lot of “miscellaneous“ items for $65 + 20% (fees + tax). It included a steel trolley cart, with a railway spike hammer, a sledge hammer, a good sized ball peen hammer, life time supply of anti-seize & tapping fluid… Also included were a GS...
