    measuring a tapered stub

I wonder if it is 1:25? (2.08* or 2*5’) Here is an excerpt form a watchmaker’s forum where they discuss tapers. And here is the link to said thread. https://mb.nawcc.org/threads/taper-on-watchmakers-lathe-tailstock.36624/

SM 2000 series feed clutch adjustment

I concur with @Brent H ’s assessment of the possible cause of the clutch slipping. The detents can be reworked to improve their functionality. One option is to go to the next size bigger ball bearings (even just going with metric ones, slightly bigger) can help a lot once their pockets are...

Used and abused Robin bench vise

I would mill off the welds as much as you can - leaving the parent cast / steel jaws. Hopefully the weld did not penetrate all that deep and you are now able to remove the jaws. If the welds really hold, they knew how to weld CI (or maybe it is cast steel?). You thus know that the busted out...

4140 crankshaft modifications - propeller hub build

Oops! How long is your broach guide? It needs to be at least as long (preferably longer than) as the depth of the key way you are broaching so the back of the broach is well supported as it exits the cut. I make my broach guides between 1/4” to 1/2” longer than the cut. I don’t have and...

A nice use for a universal table on a mill

Great use for that old classic. Well done.
