Yes, sorry Mike. I should have used the SM parts diagram and looked up the proper nomenclature.

Tool 6” GS / Gerardi Modular Vise Clone

Yes, very easy to locate the vise at any angle to the mill table (once the alignment keys are removed).

Tool 6” GS / Gerardi Modular Vise Clone

I have to agree with that 100%. My clone came with 16mm alignment feet which fit perfectly into the Deckel FP3Ls table T-Slots. The last few projects were non-critical so I just went with that; did not even bother to indicate it in. Excellent observation regarding hold downs torquing the...

    Standard Modern Series 2000

Good job getting the bearings out. Might want to consider replacing the input shaft bearings at the same time - you have already gone this far… Replace them with same or better quality bearings and you will be good to go. Should reduce the noise by a whole lot.

Tool 6” GS / Gerardi Modular Vise Clone

Please refer to my post #25 above for the details. Cole’s notes: yes, I was able to install it square to the base. For the prismatic jaw modular vise I bought, there are two basic modes of operation: “floating jaw“ & “fixed jaw”. In floating jaw mode, each jaw pulls down as you tighten the vise...

Tool 6” GS / Gerardi Modular Vise Clone

Overall, great. It was a learning curve for me w.r.t. using it properly. Once I had that figured out, I like it a lot. I do need to come up with a way to protect all the nooks and crannies from chips. The critical components are more exposed than on a Kurt style vise…

SM change gears - Imperial 1120 for metric gears

That is what the factory used originally. I’ve made mine to those specs. For sure. The difficult one is the 127T transposing gear. I could not find it off the shelf at the time for reasonable $$s. Here is the link where I made change gears for my SM1340...
